What It Is

What Is Electrical and Instrumentation Fabrication?

Electrical and instrumentation fabrication brings specified measurement, control, and connection components together into a physical assembly.

Depending on the design, the package may include:

✓ Instruments
✓ Controllers
✓ Terminal blocks
✓ Power components
✓ Valves
✓ Tubing

Capabilities

Electrical and Instrumentation Capabilities

Four parts of an E&I package, from component assembly to agreed testing.

Instruments and controllers mounted on a backplate to a layout
01

Specified Component Assembly

Electrical and instrument components are mounted according to the approved arrangement and equipment requirements. The build plan can incorporate customer-supplied hardware or procurement of specified items within the project scope.

Instrument tubing, manifolds and valves connected to transmitters
02

Instrument Tubing and Connections

The assembly may include tubing, valves, regulators, manifolds, and instrument connections. Materials, component ratings, and connection details follow the intended service and approved drawings.

03

Wiring and Identification

Defined wiring and termination work connects the specified electrical components. Equipment tags, conductor identification, and terminal references should align with the project documentation and handover requirements.

04

Inspection and Agreed Testing

Completed packages can undergo specified checks appropriate to the assembly. Electrical, pressure, leak, or functional activities must use suitable procedures and acceptance criteria for the equipment involved.

Clear Interfaces

Built Around Clear Electrical and Mechanical Interfaces

Provide the bill of materials, layouts, wiring diagrams, tubing schematics, component instructions, and required test records. Identify field connection points and any required listings or certifications before the build is released.

For packages that will be installed onsite, AES can bring together the fabrication and field scopes together. This makes the transition from shop assembly to installation easier to review.

Why AES

Why Choose AES for Instrumentation Fabrication?

AES can bring mechanical, tubing, and electrical assembly activities together within one defined fabrication package. That is useful when a project needs more than a bare mounting structure but does not require every system responsibility to be assigned to the fabricator.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

E&I assembly with controller, power components, transmitters and tubing on one backplate Ask us anything →

Can customer-specified controls be included?

Yes. Supply the component requirements and approved connection documentation. Programming or configuration is included only when explicitly identified and supported within the project scope.

Does the service include field electrical installation?

Shop fabrication and field installation are separate scopes that can be coordinated. AES can help support the Identification of site connections, required trade qualifications, installation checks, and startup responsibilities when developing a complete project package.

What documentation can accompany the assembly?

The required records are established by the project. They may include the approved component list, agreed inspection and test records, equipment documentation, and marked-up connection information where specified.
