What It Is

What Is a Custom Stainless Steel Enclosure?

A custom enclosure is a housing fabricated to meet a defined equipment layout and project specification.

Stainless steel may be selected for:

✓ Corrosion resistance
✓ Finish
✓ Cleaning needs
✓ Facility material standard

Capabilities

Enclosure and Cabinet Fabrication Capabilities

Four parts of a cabinet build, from the layout to the final inspection.

01

Project-Specific Dimensions and Layouts

Cabinet dimensions and internal mounting arrangements are developed from the approved layout. Equipment access, door movement, tubing routes, and cable entries should be checked before fabrication begins.

02

Specified Stainless Steel Construction

Material grade, sheet thickness, finish, joining details, and hardware requirements follow the project documentation. Selection depends on the actual environment; one stainless steel grade is not appropriate for every chemical exposure.

03

Mounting and Connection Features

The fabrication scope can include mounting plates, brackets, cutouts, and specified penetrations. These details should be coordinated with the equipment package so field changes do not undermine the intended arrangement.

04

Assembly and Inspection

Specified equipment can be mounted within the enclosure when integration is included. Inspection criteria should cover the required dimensions, workmanship, fit, finish, and project-specific documentation.

Cabinet Fabrication Versus Environmental Enclosure Integration

01

Cabinet fabrication

This service focuses on the fabrication of the physical cabinet or housing.

02

Environmental enclosure integration

A complete environmental enclosure project may also involve heating, cooling, ventilation, utilities, or other protective systems selected for the installed analytical equipment.

For the broader equipment-protection package, see Environmental Enclosures.

Why AES

Why Choose AES for Custom Cabinets?

AES considers how the enclosure will support an assembled analytical or instrument package. Coordinating the housing with component mounting and connection requirements helps project teams resolve practical fit and access questions before the equipment reaches the field.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Custom stainless steel enclosure housing instruments with the door open Ask us anything →

Can AES fabricate a cabinet to our dimensions?

Yes. Provide dimensioned drawings, material and finish requirements, equipment layouts, and any required ratings or inspection criteria. Confirm the design is approved before fabrication begins.

Are all stainless steel cabinets rated for outdoor service?

No. Outdoor suitability depends on construction, sealing, penetrations, corrosion exposure, and the specified environmental rating. Stainless steel construction by itself does not establish that rating.

Can the enclosure include mounted instruments and tubing?

Yes, when assembly and integration are included in the scope. Component lists, mounting details, connection routes, and required checks should be defined alongside the cabinet fabrication requirements.
